Taking care of a person with NF can be physically and emotionally exhausting. A diagnosis of NF sends a ripple effect throughout family and friends.
Common emotions of caregivers include: stress, frustration, constant worry, lack of focus, loneliness, changes in temperament, and feeling overwhelmed. Physical ramifications of care giving often include aches, skin ailments (such as rashes or hives), stomach pains, change in sleep patterns and needs, and weight gain/or loss.
